How to catch Vullaby in Pokémon Go

Vullaby in Pokémon Go is one of the new spawns added for the ongoing events in the game. The reworked Team Rocket attacks on Pokéstops bring new challenges to overcome and battles to fight.

While you’re hunting those new red eggs, you may want to be on the lookout for some of the new hatchlings. And unlike normal hatching of eggs, some of these take extra steps. Take Vullaby in Pokémon Go for example, you have to hatch it from the new egg. Trainers can only receive it by hatching a strange egg, also known as a red egg. It’s not too remarkable on its own, but it’s evolved form of Mandibuzz looks really cool. And if you’re a collector, this might be for you.

You can only receive a red egg by defeating a Team Rocket leader, so let’s start there. Use the linked guide above to figure out some good counters for each of the three main leaders. You also need to retake stops taken over by Rocket Grunts to get them to spawn, so keep that in mind. You will get a piece of strange components when you beat a Rocket Grunt, you need six to assemble the device to summon a Leader. Also, the leaders won’t stick around forever, so once you see their balloon pop up, be ready to engage.

Sierra, Arlo, and Cliff are all random spawns, so be sure to check the balloon before engaging them to make sure your team has the right composition as well. Once you have completed the boss fight, you will claim a red egg as loot. These are 12-kilometer eggs and once you have them, the resulting spawns are random. Vullaby is only one of a few choices. Here are some of the others you can get:

  • Larvitar
  • Sandile
  • Scraggy
  • Trubbish
  • Pawniard
