How to capture Cryogonal in Pokémon Go

Throwback Challenge 2020: Johto Special Research and Rewards in Pokémon Go

The new raid is live. It may not be a five star Legendary Raid, but still, a nice challenge is live in Pokémon Go. Cryogonal is the newest addition to the roster, bringing a whole new challenge to the game. The toughest trainers can take on this beast to try and capture it. Cryogonal has an Ice-type dominance. So you will want to bring in moves that have an offensive advantage against Ice.

Basics of fighting Cryogonal

Cryogonal is purely an Ice-type Pokémon, so it has some weaknesses that can be exploited.  if you have several Fighting and Fire-type moves, these will help a lot. Some of the best choices available to you to fight this Pokémon include Metagross, Blaziken, and Conkeldurr. These each have various typed moves that work well against Cryogonal in Pokémon Go.

Metagross has a Steel and Psychic-type mix. There’s plenty of Steel moves that can be useful here. Bullet Punch is likely the best move for this roster member.

Blaziken, the Fighting and Fire-type Pokémon is probably the best choice though. Fire moves are an obvious good choice here, and Blaziken has those in spades. Counter will help give Blaziken some defense. As for good Fire moves, Fire Spin, Blast Burn and Blaze Kick are the best options for fast moves with good hit rates.

Conkeldurr, a Fighting-type Pokémon, is another good secondary to have. With stats weighted more towards Attack than Defense, there’s more strength to throw around. Fighting and Fire-type moves will work as a good combo.

Conkeldurr is weighted more towards Fighting-type moves like, Counter and Dynamic Punch. So without Fire moves, it has a weak spot against Cryogonal in Pokémon Go. Although it does have one defensive advantage. It is resistant to Dark-type attacks. The Night Slash move that this Raid could feature is much less deadly because of that feature.

If you have a Blaziken and Conkeldurr to throw into the battle after each other, that’s pretty strong. Machamp, Chandelure, Terrakion, Charizard, Arcanine and so many more to choose from as follow-ups to specialty drops like Blaziken.
