How to capture an Alolan Exeggutor and best movesets in Pokémon Go

Pokémon in Pokémon Go each have their own unique styles, movesets, and even spawn mechanics. Players will have to work pretty hard if they want to completely fill out their Pokédex with all the available spawns. Although Niantic has not added all the entries from the years-long legacy of the franchise, there are hundreds of potential spawns in Pokémon Go. And some of them are pretty hard to find, as they only spawn during events, raids, or in set areas. One of the hardest to find for some players seems to be Alolan Exeggutor.

And no, you won’t be able to trick the spawn in any unique way, in case you were thinking that. When hunting Alolan Exeggutor, you need to locate them in a raid. The various 2-star, 3-star, and 4-star raids in your area have a potential for spawning the rare variant of the giant palm tree. There have been some reports of wild spawns outside of raids, but these seem entirely random and extremely rare based on what information I could find. They also don’t spawn from eggs as far as I can tell. You won’t be able to evolve a regular Exeggcute into one either. Your only other guaranteed methods outside of raids is trading with another Trainer.

The Alolan version of Exeggutor is a Grass and Dragon-type Pokémon. The monster has a pretty impressive CP cap of 3,014, with an attack of 230, a defense of 153, and has 216 stamina. Even with these stats though, it has some problems. Being weak to any Bug, Fairy, Dragon, Flying, and Poison-type attacks makes it a very situational choice for many Trainers. Ice-type moves are particularly dangerous as well, as Alolan Exeggutor has a 2x weakness to that type.

It would likely work best as a pinch hitter of sorts that you bring out when you need a strong Special Attack or Grass-Type option to mop up weaker opponents in the closing stages of a PvP battle. I would not recommend using it as a frontline fighter.

It can know moves such as Solar Beam and Bullet Seed, which offer strong special attacks. There is also a chance for moves like Seed Bomb and Dragon Tail for some nice combos of offset damage.
