When you’re building your farm up in Stardew Valley, you will quickly fill up space with all kinds of structures and other junk. It’s a good idea to get a few basic items down first to give yourself some storage space and upgrade potential. One of the most important items is the Silo in Stardew Valley.
The silo in Stardew Valley is useful in helping feed livestock. Instead of having to run around and drop hay into a bunch of hen houses, or other livestock pens, you need to just drop a few silos down. You can then drop huge stacks of Hay into the Silo for storage. Each silo can store up to 240 hay. The current amount stored can be checked by interacting with it.
What you need to build a Silo is pretty simple. Like many other structures in the game, you need to have the resources on hand and take them over to Robin to order the structure. It takes two days for the item to finish building for use.
Here are the items you need to have in stock to unlock one:
- 100 Stone
- 10 Clay
- 5 Copper Bar
This item being able to have 240 Hay in one place makes it much easier to get things moving around if you have a lot of livestock. If you have a lot of animals, it’s a very good idea to get a couple of these down early.
You can then use the silo to get Hay from Grass. Every time you cut Grass with a Scythe, you have a 50% chance to get a unit of Hay. The one downside is that Grass isn’t always there. This makes it a good idea to stockpile a lot of it. Since all grass dies in Winter and you need Hay from that Grass, you need to get as much as you can right away. It’s a good idea to cut plenty of Grass around the end of fall for this purpose.
