Icarus is a new survival game that occupies a similar genre space to the likes of ARK: Survival Evolved. You get plopped onto a remote location and have to survive. You need to build shelter, find food and more. In fact, being able to build a shelter in Icarus is one of the first things you should try to do. It doesn’t have to be fancy, but it does need to shield you from the elements. The problem with this is that the most basic shelter in Icarus doesn’t even have a door.
How to build a door in Icarus
When you’ve gotten a little further in the game, you should have some new research unlocked. You must have unlocked the Thatch options for door frames to build a door in Icarus. This is fairly early in the tech tree. Press P to open the research tree and focus on the door tech. First, research the Thatch wall to get it. It can also be obtained via the Wood Wall. Once you have it unlocked, you can move on.
You need 10x Fiber and 4x Stick to build a door in Icarus. Press O to bring up the crafting menu, and press R to cycle between the items you can make. Now, build the item and the game will construct it, placing the finished door in your hotbar. You can then select the Door Frame option and place it where you want to build it. That will then build it when you have the resources.
How to place a door in Icarus
You then need a building to place it into. Once the door frame is ready, select it in your toolbar. You will then see the green outline of the wall, then the door can be placed inside. You will need to build a wall, then when the ghost outline is placed before building, hold R to change between the basic wall and the door frame. Once the frame is built, then you can place the door within it.
