Horror game Welcome to Hanwell launch trailer
Sony has released a new trailer for Welcome to Hanwell, a new horror game with an open world design for PS4. The game originally hit Steam through Greenlight back in October 2017. And now we get to see what the game can do when trying to scare the pants off of the console audience.
Welcome to Hanwell is described on its Steam page as:
Welcome to Hanwell, once a safe haven from the horrors of the world, now a cesspit of anomalous scum. Explore a dense open world of terror, every building a unique location with it’s own story to tell. Strung together by the remenants of Hanwell.
The game features the Hanwell Council of Public Protection (HCPP), established to keep residents safe from the threats of emergent monsters called “anomalies”, who wreak havoc in Hanwell. There’s a lot of commonalities with SCP in that HCPP is an organization that exists to contain and combat various dangerous and mysterious anomalies.
Check out the trailer below. There’s a lot of ominous imagery and themes built in to that monstrosity. The “We are a cesspool of anomalous scum” is a particularly weird and intriguing line. And aside from the #2spooky setup, the game looks great with its varied environments and creative use of lighting.
Welcome to Hanwell is releasing on both Steam and PS4 for $19.99.
