Hollow Knight gets a physical release, finally

Hollow Knight

So remember when Team Cherry announced, and then scrapped, plans to bring a special physical release for their flagship title Hollow Knight to market? That’s happening again apparently according to an announcement from the developers. And said bundle is now available for pre-order.

The original plan a few months ago was for Team Cherry and Skybound Games to work together to bring the excellent indie title to a physical release for the first time. Team Cherry had to originally scuttle the plan after it turned into ‘more work than we could reasonably manage’, but the company seems committed to the idea, as they appear to have negotiated a workable deal with a new partner.

It turns out that Fangamer is finally partnering with Team Cherry to create and distribute a physical version of the excellent game for the Nintendo Switch. There’s plenty of bonuses and goodies for hyper-fans of Hollow Knight to grab with this bundle, so let’s find out what’s inside. Anyone who picks up this special version can expect the following:

  • Metal brooch with display stand, wall hook, and dual-pronged fastener
  • 14-page Quirrel comic book
  • Gift-box-style case with gold-foil filigree and a clear printed sleeve
  • Gold-foil art print set by Ari Gibson
  • Physical copy of the game on your choice of platform
  • Nintendo Switch™ copies of the Collector’s Edition include a bonus cleaning cloth

The Collector’s Edition will set you back around $69 (around £52) excluding shipping and is available along with the standard edition from the Fangamer website and will ship from May 31st
