IO Interactive and Warner Bros. Entertainment just unleashed the launch trailer for Hitman 2, and it’s a perfect tonal fit for the franchise. The subdued opening monologue from Sean Bean is a great insight into the nature of this franchise, and how it should always encourage the player to be more inventive.
As Sean Bean says in the trailer, “the world is always your best weapon,” which means you should get creative when taking out targets in this game. Whether it’s dropping a boat on their heads or beating someone to death with a limp fish, there’s plenty of ways to take out your quarry in the Hitman games. You should always think creatively when approaching a contract in these games, and Hitman 2 makes that very easy with plenty of options and branching gameplay paths. For example, you’ll be able to use explosive rubber ducks, transistor radios, and even dress up in a ridiculous flamingo outfit to get the upperhand on your foes.
For anyone who didn’t know, and was left wondering what Sean Bean is doing here, he’s the first of many Elusive Targets in Hitman 2. Elusive Targets are special in-game events that act as episodic content for the assassination game. These targets will disappear after a short while, and if you fail to take them down, you lose your chance to take them on again as it’s an all-or-nothing mission type where you only have one life.
If you’ve never played any of the Hitman games before, now is the perfect time to jump in with Hitman 2. The game features more exotic locales to hunt your targets in, there’s also lots of new and creative weapons that will make for plenty of laughs when you use them to decimate your target. If you’ve ever wanted to blow up people with rubber duck bombs for money, this is as close as you’re going to get.
Hitman 2 is out on November 13 for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One.
