Here are the minimum PC system requirements for Resident Evil 3 Remake

Resident Evil 3

Resident Evil 3 Remake was announced earlier this month, confirming the suspicion that has been floating around for years. Capcom had teased the remake after the success of their previous effort, and fans are really happy. Capcom is bundling  Resident Evil 3 Remake together with Project Resistance, that new asymmetrical multiplayer title teased a while back. This was already plenty of good news for survival-horror and Resident Evil fans, but we’re getting even more.

And now, Capcom has released the minimum system requirements for the upcoming game. There’s some surprising elements to this though, especially considering that Resident Evil 3 Remake comes out near the middle of 2020. For one thing, the mention of Windows 7, which ends support from Microsoft soon, is already a bit weird.

But on the hardware side, seeing a Piledriver CPU in 2019 is insane. The 2012 6-core CPU is really lagging behind even compared to the bottom end of the more modern AMD and Intel offerings. The GPU listings, like the R7 260X, are equally low-end. It’s not bad if you really need to game on this hardware, but the experience will be pretty poor. Given that this is an RE Engine game, we can reasonably expect a 30 FPS experience around 720p with these system specs. At that rate, you would likely do better on the console versions of the new game if at all possible.

The engine does really well, even on low settings, but at some point there’s an expectation of more modern hardware in PC gaming. If you’re running into issues in new games, maybe it’s time for an upgrade.
