Halo: The Master Chief Collection adds FloodFight and campaign crossplay for Halo 3 & ODST

343 Industries has updated Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and have added a FloodFight mode and campaign crossplay. The new mode will be an alteration of the FireFight mode from old-school ODST. The mode will be a bit more than just a riff on Firefight though, as the goal is to add quality of life features and other changes. Players will be able to get their hands on new weapons and tactics. For example, the VISR map has been updated to give players better clarity of what’s happening around them.

The Halo 3: ODST Firefight mode is a big focus for this update. And to prepare for all this, 343 is making changes. “To support this fan-favorite mode, we’ve made numerous networking improvements which benefit Firefight across the board,” said the company in a waypoint blogpost. The update will see a big shift in the Firefight mode, with new maps, enemies and more to battle.

On top of this new mode, 343 has also introduced campaign crossplay for Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST. Now you can play through both campaigns with your pals. FloodFight and campaign crossplay are two useful features being added to the game collection. The developer has announced that the game will be getting a much-needed bit of attention with these updates. Firefight matchmaking is being seriously overhauled.

The AI for the Floodfight mode has also been shifted about, with the Flood now able to commandeer vehicles in combat. They’re a much bigger threat now, are you ready?

This change also includes new weapons and other changes to the games within. Players will be able to get deep into the Firefight mode and have tons of fun blasting the Flood with Flamethrowers and other cool stuff. Players can also use the Energy Sword and Sentinel Beam in ODST matchmaking for Firefight for the first time. It’s going to be a serious fight for survival this time around. With all the new abilities and weapons at the disposal of both the players and AI, things are about to get hectic.
