One of the major launch titles for the new Xbox Scarlett has finally been confirmed at Microsoft’s E3 2019 press conference. Say hello to Halo Infinite.
With a new teaser cinematic trailer, players are encouraged to “Discover Hope” as Chief is back once again to finish the fight. The iconic John-117 will return as a main character in this new game. Get hype, because the Chief is going in hot when this finally comes out.
It will be very interesting to see how 343 approaches wrapping up this legendary story. Chief, and by extension Humanity, has lost so much even before the war with the Covenant and the wars that followed, that there’s a very real question of what’s left to fight for. Chief is a damaged character in ways that go far beyond physical injury, and I genuinely hope that this new game can deliver on a more emotional conclusion that fits with the status of the character.
Halo Infinite is the long-awaited continuation of the story of the humans and their Spartan creations. This is Halo 6 in essence, and it continues the desperate struggle for survival against alien menaces from the previous games. The trailer for this new shooter implies that said struggle isn’t playing out to well for Humanity.
Halo Infinite has been confirmed as an Xbox Project Scarlett launch title, but does not have a firm release date yet.
