Guide to weapon mods and attachments in Cyberpunk 2077

How to use Quickhacks in Cyberpunk 2077

The weapon mods and attachments in Cyberpunk 2077 are incredibly important. These items can be bolted onto any weapons in the game and give you various boons. Players can alter the DPS of a weapon, add new elemental damage types, or even shoot around corners. There are many types of mods and attachments, and weapons have their own applicable choices. Here’s what we know so far about the modification of weapons in Cyberpunk 2077.

You might also want to take a look at your Cyberware guide to know what kinds of upgrades are on the table for your characters.

How to get weapon mods and attachments

The bounties and other missions you find randomly are a good source of both money and upgrades. Alternatively, you can purchase them from weapon vendors and that’s a good option if you have a nice reserve of cash.

When you increase your Street Cred, you will also unlock a variety of new options for both weapons and the mods from all vendors. When you’re doing tasks around the city, including Hustles, make sure to loot bodies as you can get some killer mods. Make sure to make good use of your scanner to find hidden hacks as well. Some locked off areas have weapons and mods hidden away.

After you have some mods that you want to try out, open up your inventory window and head over to the Weapons tab. Click on any weapon listed here and you will see the available weapon mods and attachments for each weapon. For ease, the game will auto-sort the whole thing out for you. You do not need to modify the weapons via the crafting system thankfully, which makes the whole thing easier. As long as you have the mod you want, you can see its full stats and the impact it will have on the weapon.

How to craft weapon and armor upgrades

You can craft certain upgrades for your equippable items as well. You need to focus on getting crafting materials and blueprints though. One of the things that you need to have for crafting is a Crafting Spec. These are the blueprints for that item. For every weapon and armor that you get, there’s a chance that a blueprint can be obtained as well.

In order to upgrade a piece of gear, you will need the required amount of crafting materials. These can be found in a column just to the left of your existing weapon/armor item in the stats window. Just like the rarity system of the weapons and armor you’re upgrading, you’re going to have to find Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Epic materials to go along with that item.

To get many of these items, the best way is to go about dismantling items.  Disassembling your items for materials is another way to control inventory clutter as well. The best way to get the most rewarding returns from crafting is to focus on any stat boosts with the Technical. There are also certain crafting perks that can make things easier. in short, there are some special recipes which can only be crafted after you’ve learned a specific perk.

Basics of Weaponry

Speaking of weapons, it might help to know what you’re working with. There are three main categories of weapons. The weapon modifications and attachments you use for these weapons will vary a bit. and there are some mods that work better with certain types. The game also throws that generic colored rarity system that RPGs love into the mix, with rarer weapons being much better.

And just for the sake of completeness, here are some of the weapons you should look out for in the game.
