GTA Online’s Halloween Event Unleashes Mayhem and More

GTA Online Business Week

Rockstar has announced some ghoulish fun for Halloween in GTA Online. The latest series of events center on a bunch of new custom game modes for multiplayer, each one with their own scary twist.

Let’s run through all of these cool new modes, for all the frightening joy they bring. All of these new modes enjoy double GTA$ and RP rewards for the duration of the event as well.

Slasher is a classic Hunter vs. Hunted mode that we’ve seen before. One hunter is armed with a shotgun at the start, with up to seven Hunted players armed only with flashlights. The name of the game is to survive for three minutes as a Hunted. Once that three minutes ends, the tables turn when the Hunted get armed with guns of their own. This frantic stealth-based mode is loads of fun.

Slashers takes things up a level by increasing the stakes on the basic mode. It’s still Hunter vs. Hunted, but now everyone is armed to the teeth. Hunters have shotguns and a melee weapon. Hunted have flashlights and night vision, making them much better at evasion. And instead of three minute timer, the roles flip every minute until only one team is left alive.

Lost vs. Damned pits Angels against Devils in a climactic battle for dominance. The map will flip between day and night every minute, granting bonuses to one side or the other. Buffs like better armor, more health and new weapons will be available to each side depending on which cycle is active. Coordinate your assaults on the enemy team when your buffs are active to achieve supremacy.

Condemned puts an entire team against one unlucky player. A timer ticks down and whoever is marked with the Condemned role dies. Players who “tag” with the role active pass the Condemned role to a new player. Think of this like a really nightmarish musical chairs or tag, with a lot more death

Come out and play is another Hunters against Runners mode. The Runners are heavily armed but don’t have any vehicles, while Hunters have motorbikes and ATVs, but reduced weapon variety. Stealth is pretty key as a Runner, being able to surprise your enemy will mean the difference between life and death.

Beast vs. Slasher sees the return of the handicapped mode featuring the Beast. The Slashers have to hunt a super-powered beast while he avoids them, picking each one off when they can. The Beast in this version is much more powerful this time around, but he’s on a more restrictive path as there are a bunch of checkpoints they need to tick to win.

There’s also a bowl full of treats in terms of in-game sales on various vehicles and other items, just like other special events. Halloween themed vehicles have made a return to the game until November 5 at 35% off. That includes the following vehicles:

  • LCC Sanctus
  • Albany Lurcher
  • Albany Franken Stange
  • Halloween Masks
