Grinding Gear Games announces 3.7 announcement date and other new POE details

Path of Exile 3.6 Synthesis League

Grinding Gear Games is once again throwing out some new Path of Exile news today, revealing some interesting new details about new content in the game, as well as the future of the ARPG. For one thing, we have even more new cosmetic effects to gawk at. These two new items are the Colossus Axe and Machete weapon skins. This fairly simple skin has a pretty obvious theme, big weapons for big bois. So if that kind of thing seems like something you want to flaunt around Wraeclast, check these two new items out in the preview videos down below. You could also take a look at some other cosmetic effects, like the new Divine Ire.

Of course, the big news about Path of Exile today is the plan for the 3.7 patch, and the future of Synthesis League content. The developer has revealed that their planning to launch a celebratory even for the end of the current 3.6 League content, namely Synthesis. The game will host a new even that combines a ton of League mechanics into a single month-long event. This new setup is expected to begin around the 10th of May. As for what content will be included in the event,

What’s really interesting here is the potential combinations between these three choices, each essentially combining various League mechanics from past patches into some really new and chaotic ways. There are three potential combinations on the table, each with their own level of insanity.

The simplest is Flashback, Flashback events have several random mods from popular past leagues activated at once. The collection of mods persist in an area for one hour. This is basically what the game would feel like if Standard League had the spawn chance for multiple League mechanics maxed out.

Next up is Mayhem, where the number of League modifiers per zone is reduced, and locked for all players once-per-hour, but the sheer volume of mechanics is jacked way up. There can be 10 Breaches and dozens of Rogue Exiles in the same zone for example. This is a much more difficult experience, and it’s really fun if you don’t mind dying a lot.

The final option for the Synthesis event is Turmoil. Turmoil events will also rotate each set of mods in an area from a set pool of modifiers. So there could be Breaches, Rogue Exiles, Incursions and Perandus Chests all potentially spawning in a zone, with a randomized set from those area mods being chosen on each instance spawn.

We’ll find out what’s happening with this event soon, sometime later this month. We do know that the new 3.7 League is pretty far along in development. GGG has revealed that there is a significant balance focus on Melee and a League of a simpler scope than the last few in POE 3.7.

And speaking of the future, you might also be interested in taking a look back at the past of POE. Do that by giving the GDC 2019 presentation from Chris Wilson on the development of the game a listen.

We don’t know much about POE 3.7 yet, but we will when more details drop in about two weeks. GGG are currently planning to announce our 3.7.0 expansion between the 17th and 24th of May.
