Grand Theft Auto Online showcases more player casino details

GTA Online

The latest trailer for GTA Online has a lot of players excited, all about gambling. OK, it’s not the disgusting digital gambling of EA and their ilk, otherwise known as “surprise mechanics”, but it is casinos of the player-owned variety in Grand Theft Auto 5. These player-run dens of ill repute have been teased for a while now, are finally being added in what’s billed as the Diamond Casino update.

Buying businesses and property has been a long-standing part of the GTA franchise, and it got a lot more profitable with the launch of Grand Theft Auto 5. The latest game in the franchise has been around since 2013, and has had surprisingly long legs to stand on since then. Constant infusion of new content into the online mode has added a lot of meat for players to sink their teeth into. From races and heists, to tons of different competitive game modes of the community-created variety, there’s always something to do in Los Santos.

And with this latest patch, players can go from owning night clubs to playing out their Robert De Niro fantasies in player-run casinos.

The Diamond Casino and Resort update hits Grand Theft Auto Online on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on Tuesday, July 23. Check out the trailer for the new content down below.

The process of buying and running the Diamond Casino and Resort has been a longtime coming. Players have noticed the massive complex in the game world for years, but it has laid dormant that whole time. Players can use in-game money earned through missions to buy Chips, playing them against the House in casino games like Three Card Poker, Blackjack and Roulette. Slot Machines. Those who actually put the dosh down to buy the place earn a timed regular stipend on their investment.

And to go along with the casino itself, there’s also a major new penthouse for the wealthiest players to flaunt. This place has everything, and it can be upgraded to include a wide array of new activities. Playing private arcade games, watching films through an in-game theater, there’s even a private Spa with a round-the-clock personal stylist. And of course, there’s a bar, bedrooms, party areas and so much more.
