Godfall early 2019 gameplay footage leaks

Godfall

A Godfall “full internal early 2019 teaser” has been leaked online.   Godfall was announced at The Game Awards 2019 last December and made quite the splash. Counterplay Games is looking to craft quite the experience with their newest game. The smooth animations and popping visual effects certainly tell us that much. And by judging the visuals in this new teaser with the statements from the rest of the hype surrounding it, a clearer picture begins to emerge.

Publisher Gearbox has described Godfall as “set in a bright fantasy universe,” What this means is that it’s basically a cookie cutter RPG. The company further described the game as  an action title where players “utilize melee combat for hunting for loot, donning legendary armor sets, and pursuing vicious enemies.” And judging from this newly leaked footage, it looks like it have one thing going for it, it looks rather impressive.

The vicious combat reminds me a fair bit of various ARPGs in tone, and with the player taking on multiple enemies, things are not going to be easy. Speaking of enemies, the enemy design looks fantastically unique. I really hope that visceral combat comes through in the final game, as it will be a treat to hack these folks to bits.

The real kicker here is that the footage seen in the trailer is a rather old build. According to a response via Twitter, “the circulating trailer is year-old PC footage used as part of an internal presentation.” This no doubt means that the performance and visuals seen in the footage have been updated.

Check out the teaser below. Godfall is due out for the PS5 and the PC sometime later this year.
