God of War developers give fans free DLC

God of War - Memories of Mother Trailer

The PS4 era has been defined by some really incredible games. The Sony console has exploded in popularity all across the globe. The games on the console helped drive it to exceedingly high levels of success. A big part of that success came from titles like the God of War rehash from Sony Santa Monica. The game told the story of the legendary deadly Spartan Kratos making his way into Norse mythology.

The game had an amazing story and presentation, with a ton of polish. The gameplay was a mixture of RPG and action game mechanics, bringing tons of new fans into the franchise. Fans of the older games found plenty to like as well, as the gameplay offered a massive level of improvements to the combat made the formula much more engaging.

But one of the areas that some fans really liked the ability to customize the gear of both father and son, Kratos and Atreus. Sony Santa Monica took advantage of this system by offering pre-order gear with special skins and the like for those who bought the game ahead of time. Now, the developer is dropping the same DLC bundle for free to everyone.

The following content can be claimed by all players for free:

• Death’s Vow Armor Sets for Kratos and Atreus
• Exile’s Guardian Shield Skin
• Buckler of the Forge Shield Skin
• Shining Elven Soul-Shield Skin
• Dökkenshieldr Shield Skin

These interesting and creative items are mostly cosmetic, but they still offer some really cool improvements to Kratos and Atreus.

The free DLC items can be claimed on PS4 until January 6, 2020.  Also, the main game is offered on PlayStation Now until January 2nd. If you want to snap up the game and try it, this service offers the game for a free one week trial for all PlayStation Now users.
