Genshin Impact Update 1.2 reveals new regions, characters, and more

Genshin Impact Update 1.2 Leaked

Genshin Impact Update 1.2 is the next phase of the update roadmap planned for the smash-hit gacha game.  A leak appeared on the subreddit for the game that paints a very clear picture of the plans MiHoYo has for the future of the game. Though it’s not a full reveal of everything being included in Genshin Impact Update 1.2, it does contain some juicy details about new characters coming over the next few patches. Players can expect around 10 new fighters to be added to the game over the next few months.

Here’s everything we know so far about Genshin Impact update 1.2, including potential new characters, regions and other content.

Genshin Impact Update 1.2 Character Leaks

According to a post from a Genshin Impact dataminer there have been multiple new characters lined up for release:

  • Hu Tao: A Pyro Polearm character.
  • Mimi: A Hydro Catalyst user.
  • Yunjin: A Geo Polearm character from Liyue.
  • Yaoyao: Dendro Catalyst character who potentially studied with Xiangling.
  • Sayu: An Anemo Claymore wielder from Inazuma.
  • Tohama: A Pyro Polearm wielder from Inazuma.
  • Shenli: A Cryo Claymore character from Liyue.
  • Rosaria: A new Cryo Polearm character from Mondstadt.

Some of these characters have already been teased throughout the game world. Many of the fans of the game are currently speculating about other characters planned to be added as well. There’s also an expectation that the new Diona introduced in 1.1 will get some new content as well.

There will also be new gear sets added to give players more variety in their parties. The new sets teased so far are Glacier and Snowfield and Icebreaker. All of these sets revolve around adding new Cryo effects or defenses. Each set has a two and four-piece bonus. Glacier and Snowfield give a 15% bonus to Cryo damage with two pieces. With four full pieces Melt and Superconduct damage get boosts too. Icebreaker gives a huge 40% buff to Cryo Res with two pieces, while four increases damage against enemies in a Frozen state or affected by Cryo by 35%.

That’s not all though, as Genshin Impact Update 1.2 will lead into future changes to the game world as well. The new region is still a big shrouded in mystery, as the location and details are not known yet. The common thread in the speculation is that the snowy mountain of Dragonspine will be the focal point of a future update. The location will likely be nearby Dawn Winery and east of Sal Terra, as that’s where the named area currently in the game world is.
