Genshin Impact is a very popular game. The game has exploded onto the scene this month as streamers all over the globe hop onto the gacha train. And there’s some lingering questions among PC fans who want to hop into the fun. Namely. what are the Genshin Impact system requirements? MiHoYo has laid those out for us. So, let’s talk about that.
You do need a relatively modern Intel or AMD machine to run the game, but the developers haven’t done PC gamers any favors. The specs listed are really vague in terms of CPU specifically. Thankfully the GPU requirements are pretty well laid out.
The i5 core listed for the Genshin Impact system requirements dates all the way back to 2015 with dual-core laptop CPUs. It’s pretty doubtful that such a CPU could run anything approaching this game at even passable 30 FPS. That makes it kind of hard to tell what they want. Players have stepped in and helped out. And it looks like as long as you’re running four cores on a 14nm CPU or newer, so something like an i5-7400 or better, you should be fine. For AMD I would strongly recommend a first-generation Ryzen CPU as a minimum.
You could potentially run this on something like a heavily overclocked FX-8370, but it won’t be solid at 1080p in terms of frame times, so you will see some hitching. Testing of the game on such a platform reveals 1% lows in framerate in the single digits, a playable but annoying experience.
Genshin Impact System Requirements
Minimum Genshin Impact PC Requirements
Here is a list of minimum requirements for a PC gaming rig to run Genshin Impact:
- Operating System: Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 (64bit versions only)
- CPU: Intel Core i5 or equivalent
- RAM: 8 GB
- Video Card: NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 1030 and higher
- DirectX: Version 11
- Storage: 30 GB of available space
Recommended Genshin Impact PC Requirements
We run into the same problem here with CPUs for the recommended Genshin Impact system requirements. The i7 series also dates back pretty far. For this series, anything from 2017 or newer should be OK, as long as you have four cores with more than 4 threads on the intel side. For AMD, you will absolutely need to go with a decent first or second-gen Ryzen. The FX era stuff just can’t handle this game at full tilt reliably.
So, here’s a quick look at the hardware for the recommended Genshin Impact system requirements:
- Operating System: Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 (64bit versions only)
- CPU: Intel Core i7 (equivalent) or higher
- RAM: 16 GB
- Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB and higher
- DirectX: Version 11
- Storage: 30 GB of available space
And if you can’t run it on your PC, there are other options to be had. Mobile devices are a pretty good choice. For Android phones and other devices you need at least Android 8.1. As for iOS users, the minimum OS requirement is iOS 9.0 or later. You need 8 GB of storage space on your device to instal it. Aim for a decently fast quad-core CPU with at least 6 GB of RAM.
