Gears Tactics releases at the end of this month on April 28. The new spin-off offers new players and fans of the franchise some new gameplay experiences amid the crazy over-the-top action of the franchise. Gears Tactics is trading in the third person action for isometric, tactical gameplay akin to the XCOM series. The shooting is still fast and frantic, and likely just as violent, though.
The developers Splash Damage and The Coalition have made the game look pretty spiffy too. With the PC release, as is usually the case with games, there’s both minimum and recommended specs for gamers to achieve to make sure the game runs well on their machine. Looking deeper at the specs, it seems any relatively modern PC can run Gears Tactics.
The low-end specs are well below the floor set by the Steam Hardware Survey. Using an Intel i3 or AMD FX CPU in 2020 is a pretty common sight on the cheapest of rigs, especially for gamers on a very tight budget. The GPU requirement is also rather low. And since gamers on this kind of hardware are likely running in 720p, it should be pretty easy to get the game running at a consistent 30 FPS at a bare minimum here. Don’t expect a visually impressive game though.
The higher-end PC gamer will have no problem turning on the bells and whistles in this game. A newer Ryzen or Cofee Lake CPU is pretty easy to find if you want to upgrade your hardware as well. You may have to play a bit higher price though thanks to COVID-19 shortages and disruptions.
