Square Enix has announced that more DLC is being released for Final Fantasy XV. There are four major updates planned for the game.
Here’s a rundown on each episode:
- Episode I: Ardyn “The Conflict of the Sage” – Winter 2019
Ardyn’s DLC will showcase a story about resentment. The brewing conflict between Ardyn and the Astral will be the centerpiece here.
- Episode Side Story: Aranea “The Beginning of the End” – Spring 2019
This is a much smaller story compared to the other DLC. The focus in this episode is on the calamitous nature of the fall of the Empire.
- Episode II: Lunafreya “The Choice of Freedom” – Spring 2019
This episode will let you play as Lunafreya and has the working title The Choice of Freedom. The story is “about Luna’s fate, which not even death can free her from. The theme here is all about protecting loved ones.
- Episode III: Noctis “The Final Strike” – Spring 2019
This DLC will see Noctis parting ways with the Astral as he embarks on the toughest fight of his life. The theme here is all about creating an ideal future.
Square Enix also confirmed they’re going to release a standalone version of the game’s multiplayer expansion, Comrades, sometime this summer. An update for the expansion is planned for summer, with another update this winter. The DLC will also feature a new theme by composer Yoko Shimomura.
The story-focus of the new DLC will be on a sort of “alternate grand finale” to the main game. The four stories are all self-contained arcs that tie together into the larger overall narrative.
