Fortnite v5.0 adds new guns, balances and fixes other features

Fortnite v5.0 update details

The newest weekly update to Fortnite, version 5.0, has been launched by Epic Games. The big focus this time around is on adding some new guns and fixing some balance issues.

The two newest addition to the in-game arsenal are the Submachine Gun, a 30-round light ammo weapon that’s for the Battle Royale players to blast away at each other with. The other weapon is the Typewriter Assault Rifle with much higher damage, but it’s meant for the Save the World PvE mode.

Fortnite‘s Save the World mode is a great way to farm V-Bucks, and it’s only half price until the end of July. So if you don’t mind spending the cash, now is the perfect time to give it a try.

Aside from new weapons, one weapon has been removed, the Tactical SMG has been placed in the vault. Several weapons have also had some balance passes. Grenades had their knockback reduced, and Shotguns have been made more consistent and given more ammo. The Suppressed SMG and the Hunting Rifle have been handed some slight nerfs to bring them inline with other in-class weapons.

Some performance issues to do with shaders and rendering have been fixed, and load times have been improved. Matchmaking bugs have been squashed as well.

Fortnite is available on PlayStation 4, PC, Switch, and Xbox One. Fortnite is Epic Game’s new Action Building game. Includes the “Save The World” paid Early Access PvE campaign, and the free Battle Royale PvP mode. If you have not yet picked up Save The World you can buy it for 50% off the normal price from now until July 30.
