We’re only a few hours from the launch of the first Season 8 update Fortnite fans, are you ready?
As was the case with previous content updates in Fortnite, Season 8 will include incremental changes layered into a wider update schedule which will likely introduce a combination of new map changes and new gameplay elements. Thia style of iterative design has worked wonderfully for Epic so far, as this game is still the top game in the battle royale genre.
Fortnite Battle Royale’s Season 8 will bring a bunch of new content to the game, but fans are mostly at a loss as to what kind of changes are in store. The teaser images have depicted serpents, and this most recent one depicts a partially peeled banana. Combine this mysterious setup with in-game teases like the earthquakes and fissures, and you’ve got a recipe for massive speculation. The final teaser showed a volcano. Putting all four teaser images together formed a giant skull leading fans to believe Season 8 will revolve around pirates.
Check out the final teaser for the new batch of Fortnite content down below. Season 8 goes live tomorrow, so get those challenges in to earn your free Battle Pass if you can. But as far as what is actually in the patch, we still don’t know all that much about Season 8. Epic has remained really tight-lipped about the content in the new updates, but we do know that new vehicles are in the works, and that Epic is toying with the idea of implementing a respawn mechanic into their flagship battle royale game.
Fortnite is available now for Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One. Downtime begins tomorrow, February 28 at 4 AM ET (0900 UTC). Please note that the patch size will be larger than normal updates.
