Hokuto Ga Gotoku or Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise has finally been released internationally, and Sega has a spiffy new trailer showcasing the absurd gameplay that defines both the game and the source material.
And while fans of the source material will probably be disappointed over the lack of callbacks and style in the western release from the manga and anime, there’s still plenty to enjoy with this game. Especially since the game manages to capture a pretty good feel of the repertoire of abilities for death-dealing that Kenshiro possesses. It’s over-the-top, it’s funny, and it’s a pretty good pickup for any fan of the franchise.
The fight mechanics are fun and perform well, adding a fair bit of enjoyment for fans. The story is pretty good at blending in classic characters and new elements within its overall narrative, although it does seem a bit muddled at times. Overall, I’d call it a pretty good game for anyone looking for a brawler of this style.
