The setup for this is mostly the same as many other held items in the game. You basically have to defeat the game. That means you need to finish the Elite Four and beat Cynthia to become the champ first. After that, you need to unlock the national Dex and then see the first 150 Pokémon in the regional one. It’s a ton of work, but most players should be able to do it with some effort. You will also need Rock Climb on your team to be able to get the item.

Once you have the National Pokédex, you will be allowed to access Route 226. Flying to the Survival Area is the best way to get this item. The Lagging Tail is right by the spawn at the PokéCenter. Head from the Survival Area and out into Route 226.

Head directly east past the Route 226 sign from the Center, you will see a small patch of tall grass below a Rock Climb spot. Climb up that and defeat the Trainer if you haven’t. Then head down the Rock Climb spot next to the slop you just climbed, you should be higher than you started. Head to the edge of the tall grass on this ledge and Climb again. The Lagging Tail in BDSP can be found just to the left.

You can find so many other useful Held Items in BDSP. There’s the Shed Shell. You can also get items like the Reaper Cloth, Splash Plate and Choice Band. Each of these items are super powerful for setting up powerful moves or specific strategies. Players chasing a full Pokédex may want to find Evolution items. There’s the Electrizer to evolve some Electric types. There’s the Magmarizer to get Magmar as well. The game also has a ton of items and hidden stuff to find. And then there’s trading evos for the likes of Kadabra. Finally, it’s worth learning how to change Natures if you’re a competitive aspirant.
