monsterhunterworld3_opt

A while back Square Enix and Capcom announced that they would work on a series of in-game events and content that crossed over between Monster Hunter World and Final Fantasy XIV.  We’ve already seen the Behemoth heading for Monster Hunter, now let’s take a look at Rathalos, who is inbound for the lands of Final Fantasy.

Square Enix announced today that the Monster Hunter World update will arrive on August 7, as a part of Final Fantasy XIV’s update 4.36. This update brings more content to the base game as well in the form of the next installment of The Forbidden Land of Eureka, titled “The Pagos Expedition.”

This update arrives shortly before the incoming 4.4 patch to Final Fantasy XIV. During today’s Letter from the Producer LIVE, producer and director Naoki Yoshida also teased future Final Fantasy XIV: Online content coming in Patch 4.4, including:

  • New Main Scenario Quests
  • New Sidequests – The Four Lords and Even Further Hildibrand Adventures
  • New Dungeons – The Burn and Saint Mocianne’s Arboretum (Hard)
  • New Trial – Suzaku
  • New Raid – Omega: Alphascape
  • Updates to jobs, PvP, Battle System, Eureka, Gathering and Crafting, Grand Companies, Housing, The Gold Saucer and more.

But enough distraction, let’s back to the collab update.

Players at level 70 who have completed Stormblood may partake in the Rathalos “Great Hunt” trial. There are Normal and Extreme variants of this quest, so be sure to pick the right one. Normal involves an eight player team, Extreme is a four player version of the same fight.

Those who are able to defeat the Rathalos will be able to earn the following new gear for their character:
New Armor Set – Inspired by Rathalos
New Minions – Poogie and Palico
New Mount – Rathalos
New Furnishing – BBQ Spit

Lastly, a new trailer showing off the Rathalos’ arrival in the world of Final Fantasy XIV was also released today. You can find that video at the bottom of the page. It features some sweet Rathalos boss action, as well as previews of the new armor set.

All this new content arrives in Final Fantasy XIV on August 7, shortly before the PC version of Monster Hunter World.
