Final Fantasy 7 Remake gets new gameplay at E3 2019

Square Enix E3

Square Enix has released some new information and footage of the highly anticipated Final Fantasy 7 Remake at E3 2019. We all found out, much to the disappointment of many, that this game would actually be a multi-part experience. Following PlayStation’s recent State of Play on May 9th, gamers were hyped about the prospect of more news concerning the remake of one of the most beloved RPGS of all time.

We now know when this hyped-to-the-moon title is coming out at least. Final Fantasy 7 Remake is coming to the PS4 in March 2020.

As for other news and features, things are still pretty hazy. For one thing though, we do know that the more traditional turn-based combat of the original game is being replaced with a real-time combat that will operate similarly to the system seen in Final Fantasy XV. And while that troubled game was well-received by fans, I fear that nostalgia may turn many against the remake for this reason, as well as the multi-part structure of the story. Square Enix has also revealed that the story of the game will be tweaked a little bit to accommodate the changes.

And while players may turn against this remake if it’s too expensive, or if the combat is too big of a change, I can imagine many Final Fantasy fans being won over by finally getting to see one of their favorite games in a new light. Either way, this game is likely to be a huge money spinner for the franchise, so it’s likely we could see more remakes. Who knows, maybe Sony will even fast track some PS5 releases of later games that are also beloved by fans.
