Far Cry 5: Hours of Darkness DLC announced, set in Vietnam

Far Cry 5 DLC Announced

Far Cry 5 may have been a bit of a flounder in terms of delivering on its hype, but Ubisoft haven’t given up on it yet. On June 5, the first of three pieces of DLC for the game arrives. This first addon tells the story of Wendel “Red” Redler, one of the minor characters from the main game. Red served with US forces in Vietnam, and this new DLC will show players that aspect of his life in grim detail.

As the DLC is set in the Vietnam war, expect to see Viet Cong and North Vietnamese soldiers as your primary antagonists. And given that it’s a Far Cry title, expect some over-the-top action that acts as a backdrop for depictions of some horrendous events.

Hours of Darkness is playable either solo or in co-op with a friend. The DLC adds two new game modes in addition to the story-driven content.  The modes are unlocked after completing the DLC’s Survivor Mode which features a limited load out, and Action Movie Mode, where a “generous load out delivers over-the-top action.”

There are still two more DLCs to come, Lost on Mars and Dead Living Zombies which will be released this year in July and August. Check out the announcement trailer for this first DLC below.

Hours of Darkness launches on June 5 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One for $11.99 USD. Hours of Darkness can be purchased as a standalone DLC or as part of the Far Cry 5 Season Pass and Gold Edition of the game.
