Fallout 76 had a very rough year in 2019. The game launched to a torrent of angry fan backlash who saw the incredibly broken game as an insult to fans and the franchise as a whole. The deluge of criticism didn’t stop when Bethesda screwed up repeatedly following launch. From the lies about the infamous nylon bags to the moldy helmets, then the endless glitches, the company just could not catch a break. Now, after more than a year of waiting fans will finally get some good news with the launch of the Fallout 76 Wastelanders Update.
The biggest change with the Wastelanders Update is that Fallout 76 will finally be updating its main quests and side quests for new storylines and content. The addition of NPC factions is finally here. All major stories will now have NPCs in them that give the player some form of immersive storytelling. Yes, the original version of the main quests will still be there, just augmented with new elements.
Bethesda is also throwing in some other gameplay changes too. With the new NPCs, there’s a brand new factions system in the Wastelanders Update as well. It took a year and a half for Bethesda to bring these two elements to the game, something that hardcore franchise fans had wanted from the beginning. The reputation you have with each faction, which is a function of the missions you do and how you handle combat encounters.
These changes will also be augmented by the inclusion of new gear, so you can blow your friends and enemies up with explosive new weapons. Crafting nuts can also get some fun in too with the inclusion of new options on that front.
All of this content is due for all platforms. The free Wastelanders update for Fallout 76 will be out for PC, Xbox One and PS4 soon.
