F1 2020 gets first gameplay footage via new trailer

F1 2020 Circuit Zandvoort

F1 2020 has gotten its first formal gameplay trailer with the launch of a new trailer from developer Codemasters. The new trailer shows off F1 2020 as it was meant to be seen, at high speed. The focus for this new trailer is all on Circuit Zandvoort, the first of two new courses headed to the game this year. Circuit Zandvoort returns to F1 for the first time since 1985, bringing with it a lot of fan excitement. Players get to see Max Verstappen in his signature Red Bull Racing car zipping around the track on a hot lap. It’s pretty cool.

The trailer also hints at the setting of the track, showing off a more immersive focus on the environment of racing. Circuit Zandvoort is located amid some rather beautiful coastal areas in northern Holland, making it a rather pretty track to race on. F1 2020 is putting a lot of effort into making the tracks as beautiful as everything else in the game. Sure, the cars and the simulation of racing is the main focus, but it looks like Codemasters has put a lot more effort in to faithfully recreating Circuit Zandvoort, along with the other tracks in the game, to help aid player immersion.

Lee Mather, F1 Franchise Game Director at Codemasters spoke about the game and the immersive feel the developers are going for, saying:

“The team has done an incredible job in recreating every aspect of the circuit. The banked final corner heading into the long straight is something players are going to enjoy. Circuit Zandvoort is highly technical with height variation, blind crests and unsighted braking points and corner apexes. It’s an onslaught on the senses and doesn’t give players a moment to rest.”

F1 2020 will release on July 10th for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
