CD Projekt Red Releases an Extended Gameplay Video for Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales

Thronebreaker Gameplay

Since Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales was split off from the full version of Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, it’s been an anxious wait for fans who wanted to get their hands on the story-driven singleplayer version of the card game. The world of The Witcher is deep, dark and complex, and CD Projekt Red wants to make sure gamers are well-accustomed to the realities of this world before diving in.

To that end, CD Projekt Red has unleashed a fully narrated gameplay video that runs for nearly 40 minutes, and aims to give players the backstory and theme elements they need to understand the overall narrative.

Paweł Burza, a Community Manager at CD Projekt Red leads the narration, taking the audience on a journey through the complex political and military quagmire that is Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales. It’s this tense backdrop that the player explores in a previously unseen way through this newest game. Rather than taking control of a hero like Geralt of Rivia, the player is placed in the role of Meve. She’s a powerful but desperate queen trying to defend the Northern Realms Lyria and Rivia against an ongoing Nilfgaardian invasion.

Take a look at the full gameplay segment down below. Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales will launch for PC alongside the Gwent: The Witcher Card Game on October 23. Both games will then come to PS4 and Xbox One December 4.
