Everything we know about Entei in Pokémon Go

Raikou, Suicune and Entei in Pokémon Go

As part of the celebrations leading up to the Pokémon Go Tour events, Niantic has launched a series of Collection and Celebration events for players to take part in. Aside from the new Johto Collection Challenge, there’s a bunch of new content to take on. But aside from the normal spawns and Research Tasks, this month has something new to tackle.

The focus this time around is all on the Johto Region, which means Generation 2, and the roster of new additions to the mobile game is large. And of course, that means Legendary Pokémon are back as well. You can get all three, Raikou, Suicune and Entei in Pokémon Go right now. OK, well not right now, but soon. These three are something that players will be chasing, as they’re some of the best in the entire franchise. Entei got his own entire movie for Pete’s sake.

Entei is a good Pokémon to use in PvE, and while it’s not the best PvP Pokémon for the Master League, it can get by in lower tiers. The same could be said for the other entries in the roster as well. They will also be added to the game as challenging Raids, and not in the cookie-cutter four-star and below either.

When are Pokémon Go’s Johto Legendary Raids?

Each of the Five-Star Raids that spawns a Legendary Pokémon from Generation 2 is broken into a set schedule. You will have to check the active Raids during these times to find the dog you’re after. The three Gen 2 Legendaries Entei, Suicune, and Raikou are the focus this time. Here’s when they can spawn:

  • Entei will be appearing in five-stars from Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to Sunday, January 31, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time.
  • Raikou will be appearing in five-star raids from Sunday, January 31, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to Thursday, February 4, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time.
  • Suicune will be appearing in five-star raids from Thursday, February 4, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time.

Will they be Shiny?

Because developers Niantic like to mix things up, Five-Star Raids don’t always give out a Shiny each time. The chance can be there in some events, and not there at all in others.

Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon Go can be difficult to beat. When dealing with Raikou, Suicune and Entei in Pokémon Go you need to know what to bring against them.

Best Weaknesses and Counters for Gen 2 Legendaries

Entei is a Fire-type Pokémon. It’s weak to Ground, Rock, and Water-type attacks, but it’s resistant to Bug, Fairy, Fire, Grass, Ice, and Steel-type moves. This means that Rock or Water-type Pokémon or moves will have the best success, as long as you aim for powerful high-accuracy moves.

Mega Blastoise is a Water-type that will find a good amount of power moves to use in the fight. Kyogre, and Rhyperior are solid options as well.
