Battlestate Games’ new shooter has been around a while. The hybrid MMO-FPS has been in a state of testing since 2017, and has had a rough road at points. Although, despite bugs and other issues, the game still has a growing fanbase. The game has been waiting to get a console port for a while, but that’s probably not happening anytime soon.
There are other questions that players have, and one ever-present one is simple. When is the next Escape From Tarkov wipe?
When is the next wipe?
Every time the game gets a major patch, there’s a chance for a wipe to occur. The developers will often perform one if the character customization or gear options change significantly in a patch cycle. This happened when the most recent update, 0.12.9, After that version released the changes to character options prompted a wipe.
The last wipe was very recent, since that version of the game is so new, as it took place on December 24, 2020. So it’s very much unlikely that a new one will happen this month at least. There are no plans from the dev to release a major update anytime soon, so another wipe will probably happen around that time. We will have to wait until Battlestate Games reveals more information to get a more concrete idea of when another Escape From Tarkov wipe might happen.
So just what is an Escape From Tarkov wipe? Well, it’s a pretty basic concept, it’s a total progression reset for all players. The game servers are wiped of all map and character data and reset to the current defaults. this will mean that all players are on equal footing; The wipes are meant to push players back to level 1, although there is one exception.
Anyone who has the premium Edge of Darkness edition will get some bonus items. As of now, these items have been the same every time a reset happens.
