Epic reveals more tweaks incoming in Fortnite 7.40 update

Epic is continuing to tweak and add things in Fortnite, their exceptionally popular battle royale title. The company just announced the next phase of patches to the game on Reddit, starting with the 7.40 update.

The major focuses on this upcoming patch are all gameplay and balance related. Following the tone set by 7.30 and other previous patches, the 7.40 update to Fortnite focuses on pushing out balance changes to weapons, as well as loot spawns, and some groundwork for other changes. For example, rockets are being nerfed by getting a longer reload time on Epic and Legendary versions, and the drops for these weapons are also being removed from loot lists tied to chests in-game. But don’t worry, you can still get these powerful explosive devices in other ways.

Fortnite design lead Eric Williamson explained that “they’ll still be in Supply Drops (and a a little more available there than they are now) and Vending Machines.” There were also a few other clarifications made about other content in the patch. With regards to the ziplines, he also clarified that the interact button will require a “single click,” rather than pressing and holding.

And while this is a pretty minor incremental change, it shows progress and an attentiveness to the desires of fans that many games these days sadly lack. Epic may have earned some gamer’s ire, with developments like the Metro Exodus exclusivity deal, but they’re still working hard to keep fans happy.
