Elden Ring: How to get the Sacrificial Axe

Elden Ring

Elden Ring has a lot to do. There are dozens of bosses and a mountain of items to find, but also much more than that. The game is filled with hidden dungeons, dusty tunnels and more places to explore. With so much to do, there’s been a lot to worry about. And new players will likely take some time to adjust to the world, meaning they’re going to die—a lot. You can help mitigate that by grabbing some more powerful gear, though, and that’s a good thing to do.

As you level up and get stronger in Elden Ring, there are going to be enemies that you have trouble with. And to deal with that, you need better gear. There are many weapons in the game to choose from, what you go with depends on your build. Some weapons are better than others though, and some players just want to collect all of the items in the game. Getting stronger or engaging your inner packrat are both valid approaches to this game.

If you’re a spellcaster, one thing you might be worried about is keeping up your FP. The “mana” of Elden Ring is consumed whenever you trigger a spell or weapon ability, and some builds really hurt in this area. If you’re a melee fighter who relies on raw damage via abilities and scaling, your mana pool might be quite small, especially compared to a spell-focused build. That’s where regeneration comes in, and there’s some useful items for that. One can actually be found pretty early in the game.

It’s called the Sacrificial Axe in Elden Ring, and it’s kind of cool. It’s a purely physical weapon, but it has a very unique element to it. The Sacrificial Axe’s FP restoration also stacks with other equipment, making it great for spellcasters as a last-resort weapon. The DPS isn’t great, but the regen buff is really helpful. You can throw on both this item and the Ancestral Spirit’s Horn Talisman to get a nice chunk of FP per kill, really useful.

How to get the Sacrificial Axe in Elden Ring

The Sacrificial Axe in Elden Ring is one of many optional boss drops in the game. It drops from the unique Deathbird bosses that sometimes spawn.

You must defeat Deathbird in the Weeping Peninsula to obtain the Sacrificial Axe. There are a few other places in the game you can find this boss, but this one is the most reliable method. Travel south from the Bridge of Sacrifice to the Site of Grace on the Castle Morne Rampart. Turn right after passing through the crumbling wall on your way to the Map Fragment and up the rocky slope to find a massive lump of rubble at the outside walls. Below this rubble, the Deathbird boss will spawn. Keep in mind, that Deathbirds only come out at night.

Enemies within the Weeping Peninsula spawn at a relatively low level, particularly between Levels 20-30, and this boss is only a bit higher than that. As long as you have a solid build for that range, you should be fine.
