Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen shows new gameplay in new screenshots
Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen on Switch has some new screenshots showing a variety of environments and gameplay elements.
These screenshots showcase some combat against various beasts, a style of combat that many fans compare to Monster Hunter in a thematic manner. The game also includes an incredibly deep character creator, one which doesn’t only apply for the player either. That’s because Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen on Switch includes the Pawn system which has players use to create their own companions.
The Pawns not only assist you in combat, but are often integral to the story. Each one has their own unique mannerisms and backstory, allowing them to operate with a bit of agency within the game. Some of them even have romance potential, and your choices can affect them in other ways. These companions also level with you, and have their own gear which can greatly improve their combat abilities.
Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen takes place in the mysterious land of Gransys, and has players taking on increasingly tough monsters with a huge array of skills and gameplay mechanics. Dark Arisen is the expansion to the original game, that original version came out on the PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2012. The most recent release before this Switch announcement was a 2017 version that bundled the expansion with all the rest of the content for the game, and that came around for the Xbox One and PS4.
Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is coming to the Nintendo Switch soon on April 23. You can check out the new screeenshots down below, and we’ve also included the announcement trailer for the game as well.
