Dragon Quest XI unveils diverse cast in new trailer

Dragon Quest XI

Square Enix has released a new trailer for Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, showcasing the diverse cast of cooky characters featured in the upcoming JRPG.

Akira Toriyama of Dragon Ball fame was tasked with designing the characters for the latest game in the prolific Dragon Quest series. And even though it’s been nearly 12 years since the last console entry into the franchise, it looks like Square Enix is poised to knock this one out of the park in terms of quality and fun. And with Toriyama returing to the series, the art should turn out to be amazing.

Every character has their own upgrade tree stretching across a variety of different skills and abilities. And each character can be respecced into different class roles, so players will have lots of customization options to craft their ideal party setup with. The game also has a wide array of craftable and upgradeable equipment that offer another layer of potential strategy to creating the best party of heroes.

Finally, the game is really leaning into a much grander scale with a new open-world setup. You’ll trek around the game world with your trusty steed, all the while battling monsters and other challenges in your quest for power. Sounds like a pretty fun JRPG romp to me.
