Dragon Quest 11 Switch trailer shows off the world

Dragon Quest 11 Switch Trailer

Dragon Quest 11 for the Switch has a new trailer, one showing off the remade world of the JRPG. This new world is quite a treat for long-term fans, and even new players will find something to enjoy. Dragon Quest 11, which came out in Japan in 2017, got a release last year on PC and PlayStation 4 in the US, and the Switch port is set to bring that joy to a portable platform.

Of course the appeal of the portable Switch version is hard to downplay. And with the impending launch of the Lite version of the console. many more gamers are likely to jump ship to the console in the future. And with the amount of stuff to do in this game alone, there’s likely to be many JRPG fans making that “switch”.

And even though is obviously has a bit less graphical fidelity and runs at a lower resolution, Dragon Quest 11 still looks great. The style of the franchise comes through loud and clear, bringing the cartoon-esque look to the forefront. Players will also get to see a little bit of that style in the new trailer, as well as a peek at some enemies and locales within the game, of which there are many.

The average play time for Dragon Quest 11, according to the timing fansite How Long to Beat, clocks in at around 80 hours for players who take their time and 120 hours for completionists. As you hop from local to locale, fighting cutesy beasts along the way, you will encounter many interesting and quirky characters with more weirdness than you can shake a stick at.

But a huge cast of characters and monsters is just the start as Dragon Quest 11 also packs in the story. Being an RPG, this is very much expected, as the story within the game is a ton of standard of fantasy JRPG faire. The world of Erdrea is locked in a brutal war as the kingdom of Dundrasil is invaded and destroyed by an army of monsters. Your task is to help fight them off and put a stop to the festering evil plaguing the land.

Dragon Quest 11 is available now on PC and PlayStation 4. The Switch version will be available on September 27th.
