Dr. Disrespect banned from Twitch again

Dr. Disrespect Twitch Channel Unbanned

In just the last hour, prolific Twitch streamer Dr. Disrespect has once again banned from the platform. Dr. Disrespect has yet to say anything on his social media about this new development, and Twitch has also been silent on the change. Instead, the company offered the following statement:

As is our process, we take appropriate action when we have evidence that a streamer has acted in violation of our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service. These apply to all streamers regardless of status or prominence in the community.

The streamer has more than 4 million followers, leading many to wonder just what the heck is going on.

The ban has just occurred in the last hour, as announced by the Twitch API via Twitter account StreamerBans. The account tracks major streamers and automatically announces if the streamers that they track have been banned from Twitch. Although no reason has been given for this latest ban of Dr. Disrespect, a lot of speculation is going around.

Dr Disrespect’s second ban in as many years is highly suspect, but it’s impossible to know why it happened. The ban comes amid a ton of tension regarding Twitch as a whole. Dozens of streamers and personalities involved with the platform and the company have been accused of some very horrific acts of sexually predatory and abusive behavior, to say the community is rocked would be an understatement. And aside from banning the most obvious perpetrators, like those who admitted the allegations were true, Twitch has been suspiciously silent on the problem. So having this ban happen amid this climate is leading to a fair amount of worry.

Wasn’t He Banned Before?

Yes, Dr. Disrespect has been banned from Twitch previously. His last high-profile incident came when he streamed from inside a public restroom during E3 2019. This is against California state law, where the convention takes place. It’s also incredibly invasive of other people’s privacy, and he deserved to get banned over it.

Guy “Dr. Disrespect” Beahm later apologized and said he had learned his lesson. And whether this ban is somehow connected to this evens is unknown.
