A new trailer has just dropped for the upcoming Bethesda shooter, DOOM Eternal. We’ve seen plenty of DOOM Eternal before, so this new trailer is just a treat. Some footage during E3 2019 showed off a fair bit of the frantic shooter action. DOOM Eternal was planned for a release in November of 2019, but Bethesda delayed the game a while back, mostly to take some time and polish it.
DOOM Eternal will be a direct sequel of the 2016’s DOOM reboot, bringing with it new and improved gameplay mechanics and a bunch of changes. Not only are fans of the legendary shooter franchise getting some new visuals and levels to blast their way across, new game modes join the fray too. The new Battlemode is a big new thing, and it’s soaked in demon blood and chaos.
The game also includes some new interesting tweaks to the singleplayer campaign. The original games had linear and 2D design, the more recent games have seriously shifted design of the levels into the modern era. The levels have a new degree of verticality, as your character will jump up and down on platforms, finding new demons to mow down on each one. And it also appears your soldier will have a dash technique that can be used to quickly evade powerful foes in a pinch.
As an asymmetrical mode, Battlemode in DOOM Eternal will allow players to take on the role of either a Demon or Slayer. The roles each have their own sub-classes, offering unique abilities and a gameplay style. There’s also a multiplayer mode called “Invasion”, in which players can join others’ single-player campaigns, fighting against them. So it’s basically Dark Souls invasions in a DOOM game.
Check out that story trailer down below. on March 20 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC and Google Stadia. Don’t forget, if you pre-order the game, you’ll also nab the classic Doom 64 free.
