Life is Strange 2 is coming out pretty soon, so Dontnod want to get fans and new gamers interested in the game. To that end, they’ve released a new short video documentary that features the developers just talking about the game. There’s also tons of behind-the-scenes footage in there too.
The way Dontnod is approaching this new game is a fair bit different compared to the first game in the franchise. As a result, they’re having to engage in some soul-searching over exactly what Life is Strange is as a series.
In short, Life is Strange 2 is all about making player choice and the narrative unfolding an integral part of each other. The presentation of this story will evolve with better music visuals and more engrossing gameplay, and hopefully reinvigorate the engagement fans of the first game feel for the series. It’s a deeply personal story, and Dontnod are doing everything they can to make sure all the different moving parts fit together well. The Life is Strange world is all about creating stories that are less about individual characters, and more about examining deep and complex issues using the supernatural as a backdrop.
All in all, it’s really cool to see these kinds of peeks behind the curtain in game development. Seeing the thoughts behind a game being made is really intriguing.
