Direct Challenges Coming to Magic: The Gathering Arena

MTG Arena

Magic: The Gathering Arena has been in open beta since September 27, but has been missing an extremely key feature.

However, as per a blog post made today, Wizards of the Coast is getting close to implementing that missing feature. What is this mystery component you ask? Why challenging players directly of course. Direct Challenges will allow you to smack-talk to your friends while brawling them in MTG.

Wizards’ post outlines how Challenges will work:

  1. You and your friend open the Direct Challenge option.
  2. You type in each other’s username and five-digit code.
  3. You hit “Battle.”
  4. You play a match against each other.

Further, Wizards is “working on more robust friends list features for down the line.”

Now if Wizards would just find a way to implement older constructed formats, Cube draft, and premiere events, this game would be close to perfection.

Magic: The Gathering Arena is a great game that acts as a wonderful introduction to MTG.

Magic: The Gathering Arena includes tons of tutorials and starter decks for the new player as well. Each deck has their own unique play style, allowing for many types of players to have fun with theorycrafting new strategies. It’s totally free-to-play meaning that anyone from a seasoned pro to the newest kid on the block can hop in and have a game or two.

The full launch of Magic: The Gathering Arena is expected in 2019. Until then, enjoy the neat launch trailer down below.
