Nintendo and Blizzard have confirmed that a version of Diablo III is headed to the Nintendo Switch. The announcement comes after a leak yesterday by Forbes. The original leak was quickly deleted, but it has now been rendered superfluous as the game has been fully confirmed.
Judging from the trailer that was released as part of the announcement, it looks like a pretty faithful port. All of the systems, levels and content from Diablo III look to be there. Plus, it will be possible to play four-player local co-op using just one Switch, although you may encounter some lag with lots of on-screen action. And of course, the game will feature online co-op play as well.
According to Blizzard, Diablo 3: Eternal Collection will give Nintendo Switch owners all of the expansions for free. This means that expansions like Reaper of Souls are included with the price of admission, but that’s not all. All of the other content updates and relevant patches to the original 2012 release are being added in as well. That’s a lot of content to relive on a new platform.
There’s also some Switch-exclusive content coming as well. The Switch version of the game will include a unique armor set that turns characters into Ganondorf from the Legend of Zelda series.
There’s even been a short trailer published, you can check that out below. No official release date has been announced for Diablo 3: Eternal Collection. Maybe we’ll see more at Gamescom 2018.
