If you thought Resident Evil 2’s Premium Edition was asking a bit too much in terms of price, Capcom has one-upped even that $900 price tag to a ludicrous degree. With the Devil May Cry 5 Ultra Limited Edition, the bar for insanely priced video game Collector’s Editions is now set even higher.
There are a total of three versions of this limited edition, each coming with a replica coat based on one of the game’s three playable protagonists, namely Dante, Nero, and V.
As reported by Eurogamer, Devil May Cry 5 Ultra Limited Edition costs an eye-watering 900,000 Japanese Yen—which translates to around $8000/£6100. So what do you get? Well, you get a full-size version of Dante’s iconic leather coat of course.
If you don’t want to spend that much, there’s a version with Nero’s coat which comes in at 750,000 Yen (around $6500/£5000).
And if for some reason you can’t afford that, but still want to drop an insane amount of money on this game, there’s a package with V’s getup for 600,000 Yen (around $5300/£4000).
So yeah, these are now a thing apparently. And even though Capcom has announced that microtransactions are a thing in DMC 5, some people are left scratching their heads as to how this even got the OK, as it could come off as greedy to some.
