Destiny 2 Wrathborn Hunts Guide

Destiny 2 Wrathborn Hunts Guide

Destiny 2 Wrathborn Hunts are the next phase of boss fights within the new expansion. Beyond Light has already brought us a fair amount of content to chew through, what with all the Darkness floating about. But for players that have finished the story, it’s time to move on to a new target, Destiny 2 Wrathborn Hunts. Here’s a guide on just about everything we know about these hunts and what kind of rewards you can expect from them.

You will need a fully charged Crypolith Lure to take on many of these hunts. Getting the best value out of this, and that means the best loot drops, you will want to focus on getting your Crow Reputation up. Luckily for you, these Hunts are a good way to do that. For all of these missions you need to have charges in your Lure. You can get them in three main sources:

The Cryptolith Lure is a new item added in the game with a very special function. It’s all about hunting Wrathborn, and there are plenty to go around. Activate it near a cryptolith to initiate a Wrathborn hunt, depending on the mods slotted in (reported as Hive, Xillox and Dul Arath, and Fallen, HKD-1 and Savek) you will have a different boss to fight each time.

Here are the basics of encountering each boss. You will need to have the Prey Mod attached for the boss you wish to hunt. Activate the Prey Mod for the boss to trigger the bounty. You can then trigger multiple Trophy Mods while remaining on the menu to alter the hunt. The look of the Lure will visibly change to let you know you have mods active.

Lure Mutations are an important aspect of the Hunts. You can slots these into the last two slots when you trigger a hunt. You will always want as many as you can do active.

Destiny 2 Wrathborn Hunts Targets

You will take on various Bounties for a few different NPCs, and each one will have

How to kill Savek, Fallen Wrathborn

Being one of the first enemies you encounter in Destiny 2‘s Wrathborn Hunts, there’s not much challenge here. He works like all of the other Destiny 2 Wrathborn Hunts though. You just have to head to the first pillar, trigger the Lure and begin the hunt. He’s aimed at players of Power Level 1150 or higher, so keep that in mind.

The trick with defeating it is to take out the small Servitors around it. He will glow purple before firing tracking blobs of energy at you, avoid these, and keep firing. Depending on your build though, it might be better just to focus all your DPS on Savek and basically overcome his shield tank. When you trigger the second phase and load into the lair, take out any adds you find along the way to the final fight. He will try to warp around, you need to keep on him and not worry about adds, just DPS him down.

Beating Savek will make him drop the Deafening Whisper Energy Grenade Launcher. If you’re in the mood for farming, you can run it as many times as you want.

How to kill Xillox

The quest has a pretty simple description, “Follow the Hive Wrathborn’s tracks to the lair of Xillox, Oppression of Xivu Arath.” You will find this boss fight located on The Dreaming City. He’s not that hard to beat, as long as you keep mobile. Open up on him with a solid Rifle shot or multiple heavy ordinances, and he should lose a big chunk of health. He has a pretty strong AoE damage effect that you need to be able to heal through it to win the first encounter.

When you beat his first fight, he will flee to his lair and you need to follow. Look for the slimy green trails and follow them. These lead you to the Track the Wrathborn marker that continues the quest. You will be transported to a new area, blast your way through the wall ahead and follow the trail. You will need to be able to jump across some pretty big gaps, so keep that in mind.

You will reach a second glowing pillar and will want to clear the adds around it. Do that then trigger the lure again to begin the final fight. if you were fast enough in hunting him down, his health won’t have regenerated much, and a few shots from a fast-firing weapon can bring him down.

How to kill HKD-1

HKD-1, Instrument of Xivu Arath is a much more annoying fight. Focus all your DPS on his inner glowing purple eye for the best damage in phase one. He will fight very similarly to Savek, so it’s not too hard once you know the pattern. The big problem is that a large Fallen Servitor will show up. Take it out to leave behind a pool of green energy. Standing in the pool will buff your DPS a bit.

When you beat his first fight, he will flee to his lair and you need to follow. Look for the slimy green trails and follow them. These lead you to the Track the Wrathborn marker that continues the quest. You will be transported to a new area, blast your way through the wall ahead and follow the trail.

The large open area the trail leads to has orange pools in it, stay out of those and keep your distance. There’s a small landing you can stand on away from the lure to open up on HKD-1 with a sniper, do that to make this second phase much quicker.

How to kill Dul Arath, Hive Wrathborn

To hunt for Dul Arath, you need to trigger his Prey Mod, and then head over to the  Dreaming City’s Divalian Mists landing point. Trigger the Lure there to begin.

Dul Arath is very tanky, and you will do well to bring some way to stun or lock it down. You will need to bring a heavy weapon to really chip away at its health as well. There’s also going to be adds to worry about, but focus on avoiding the lesser mobs and putting all your DPS on Dul Arath.

Just like the other fights, you need to clear the adds around the second pillar to trigger the fight. Follow that slimy green trail and head for the marker. Don’t waste your time on any enemies between you and the Tracking marker. Just get to the boss as fast as possible. The longer you wait, the harder the second phase will be.

He has multiple guards in the garden where he has made his lair, take them out to begin the final fight. For both fights, you will want to focus on keeping away and locking down the boss, this will make things much easier. During both phases, Dul Arath will routinely armor up and you will have to break his outer shell with heavy hits to get him down.

His shield will not be easy to break, as he will often spew fireballs at you as well. Stand in the glowing auras dropped on the maps and keep firing to break his shield. He will also try to teleport away when on low health, and you will have to hunt him down. Popping him from range with a sniper rifle is a good option.

Mods galore

When you finish killing a hunt target, you can return to the NPC who gave you the bounty for more. You could also stop over at Crow and grab some mods for your Lure. These mods cost Glimmer, and here’s what we’ve seen so far:
