The Season of Dawn in Destiny 2 begins on December 10th. And with that major expansion comes an entirely new set of content. In addition to the season of new story stuff, players will be able to unlock powerful new gear and abilities. The combat is getting a lot of attention this patch, The fans are getting some new ways to engage in warfare, and it looks very intriguing to say the least. There’s a new finisher system that allows players to bank up to nine of them in combat for use from their various abilities, that’s all part of the new Kellbreaker mechanics. Various other powerful abilities and items will be added over time as well.
Bungie will of course be pulling out some older content from previous seasons. The Season of Undying and the Vex Offensive content in the game are being removed. The developer will also be pulling out the rewards and gear from this stuff. But to compensate for all that lost content, Season 9 will bring in a ton of new stuff centered around the new storyline and content in the Season of Dawn.
Arriving with the new Season Pass will be the following:
- Instantly unlock the Exotic Scout Rifle, Symmetry
- Play the new 6-player activity: The Sundial
- Exotic Quests, Seasonal Armor Sets, and Ornaments
- New Triumphs, Bounties, and Seasonal Lore Books
- Exotic Emote, Ghost, Ornament, and Finisher
- Additional Season Pass rewards to unlock
While all players will have access to the following:
- Free Seasonal Rank Rewards
- Seasonal Artifact: The Lantern of Osiris
- Help Osiris fix the timeline by restoring Obelisks on four destinations
- Unlock the Seasonal Armor Set: Righteous
- Progress through Season ranks to earn the Exotic Scout Rifle, Symmetry
Season of Dawn’s Sundial
The big new draw here is the Sundial mode. The core story of the expansion revolves around fighting you way through the fabric of time. Destiny 2‘s Season of Dawn will see players trying to push back enemies both new and old. The biggest and most important mission is the revival of Saint-14. The legendary Guardian was considered the greatest of his kind, and is likely the one to grant you unimaginable power.
Destiny 2‘s Season of Dawn trailer already revealed Saint-14’s return. To accomplish this, you will need to take on a whole new questline, complete with multiple new bosses, each with their own unique mechanics. Each of the four Sundial bosses will rotate out every week, so you will have to come back and face them down several times to get all of the rewards.
Bungie also pushed out a new trailer showing off a bit more about the reveal, check that out below.
Destiny 2‘s Season of Dawn begins on December 10 at 10 a.m. Pacific, and it’ll end in March 2020. You can grab Destiny 2‘s free-to-play version, additional expansions, and the season pass via Steam. You could also get the upgrade pack for the game that includes both major expansions there as well.
