Destiny 2 Season 6 changes include Clans and Catalysts

Destiny 2 Making Big Changes Next Season

The next Season of Destiny 2 Raids and other content is on the way, and Bungie has some big plans. As Bungie announced during their This Week at Bungie update, the Season of the Drifter will include some cool revamps of existing mechanics.

One of the planned additions is actually bringing back old content, much to the surprise of long-time fans of the game. Destiny 2 is making old Catalysts available again through a new mechanic, that same mechanic will also adjust the drop rate of Catalysts to make ones that players don’t have easier to get.

For those not aware, Catalysts are special modifiers for Exotic weapons, and each weapon has its own Catalyst and has specific objectives to find them.

These exotic catalysts were available in Year 1:

Year 2 will bring a very exciting batch of changes for Destiny 2 players, but it’s not just weapon mod drops that are getting tweaked. Clans are also getting a major revamp, mostly satisfy player demand by rolling back changes.

“We’ve received a ton of feedback from the community that the Forsaken changes affected smaller and less hardcore clans less positively,” said design lead Steve Dolan and senior designer Mark Uyeda. “These clans feel like they can no longer hit the levels they had in the past. We also heard that there is just too much emphasis on doing daily bounties. As a result of this feedback, we took some of the clan progression mechanics back to the workbench and made changes to improve the experience.”

In March, Destiny 2’s clan XP system will be reverted to how it was when the game launched. Daily clan bounties will be removed, and instead players will earn clan XP by completing Strikes and other activities in the game. The Season of the Drifter, as Season Six will be called, will introduce weekly bounties for players to complete to earn more XP. All you have to do is play with clanmates to earn XP post-update. There will be one bounty for PvE, one for PvP, and one for the Raids.

And in addition to XP bonuses, players can also earn different gear and mod rewards as they work their way through the ranks. Enhancement Cores and other mod components will be unlocked early in the tiers, with more rewards being things like additional special bounties. The highest-rank rewards are unclear, but will likely include powerful gear and upgrades.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
