Dead or Alive 6 gets brawling in launch trailer

Dead or Alive 6 Launch Trailer

After being delayed a while back, the latest entry in the legendary fighting game series, Dead or Alive 6, is alive and well. Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja have pumped out a new trailer to celebrate finally getting the game to release, and fans are excited.

Those fans are happy because they finally get their hands on the new and expanded roster, complete with some of their favorite characters. There’s still a fair amount of infamous fan service

One thing that’s likely to anger many is the approach the team behind it is taking to DLC in Dead or Alive 6. The plan is to release multiple seasons of DLC, including new characters, costumes and stages among other content. Which all sounds well and good, until you consider the price.

The first of these Seasons of content already has a Season Pass, and it’s priced at a ludicrous $92.99/£73.99. I didn’t think there was a company scummy enough to try and pass of a DLC pack for nearly twice the cost of the full game it’s attached to; but as Jim Sterling put it, these last few years in gaming have been defined by “AAA” (read with dripping cynicism) industry dominance, which means plenty of greed for us gamers.

As of right now, the planned DLC takes the form of four costume packs and two new characters — one of them being Mai from The King of Fighters. That’s just absurd that such insubstantial content could cost as much as it’s being priced for.
