Koei Tecmo Games has an unfortunate announcement regarding Dead or Alive 6. Citing a series of issues with balance, and wishes on the part of the development team to further improve the overall experience, the game is being pushed back a few weeks from its initial launch date. Instead of dropping next month, the game will now be available worldwide on March 1, 2019.
More details about the nature of the delay weren’t provided but, Yohei Shimbori, the Producer and Director of Dead or Alive 6 had this to say:
“The title’s development is already near complete; however, we would like to take more time to further polish its balance, gameplay, and expressivity. In return for your patience, we commit to bringing you the best DEAD OR ALIVE gaming experience. I am truly sorry for the inconvenience caused by the release delay of DEAD OR ALIVE 6.”
And while any delay is always regrettable and met with consternation from gamers, it’s often necessary to deliver a more enjoyable game in the long-term. I get the feeling that the increased development time will help iron out some balance issues and bugs as well, making for a more appealing fighting game in the competitive scene, which is where most of the long-term interest for fighting games lies.
Dead or Alive 6 will still feature all of its new and returning roster members, including the likes of badass Christie, as well as fan-favorites Brad Wong and Eliot.
Dead or Alive 6 will be launching on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. There will also be a full demo released on January 14th for fans to test out, so keep an eye out for that.
