Dead or Alive 6 teases new combat mechanics in gameplay trailer

Brad Wong and Eliot are in Dead or Alive 6

Team Ninja and Sony just released a new trailer for the upcoming next entry into the iconic fighting game franchise, Dead or Alive. In this case, it’s Dead or Alive 6 that’s on show.

The trailer starts by bringing out tons of new and returning fighters in a fair bit of fanservice that players of the franchise are sure to appreciate. The trailer then jumps into explaining the rock-paper-scissors style system by which combat is balanced, giving us a demonstration of the importance of strings, combos and reading your opponent in Dead or Alive 6. We then get some details about DOA Central, the in-game shop which will serve as both the release vector for DLC and a news dissemination point.

The trailer also peeks in on the story of this entry, and the introduction of some new fighters to the roster. There’s many more modes than just a story setup as well, including tutorial and training mode, DOA Quest, online battle, command training, arcade, and much more. We see little bits of each of these in this new trailer.

If you want to try out the game now, you can download the online beta now for PS4 until January 14. Team Ninja has put the beta out to allow fans and new players to get a grasp on the gameplay, and with a wide variety of stages and fighters, there’s plenty of fighting game meat to sink your teeth into.
